'Destiny 2' latest news: Game's PC beta goes live

Gamers waiting for “Destiny 2” can now enjoy the beta for the PC version.

According to Gamespot, the beta became available for everyone to download yesterday, via the Battle.net app. The beta first went live on Monday for players who pre-ordered the game. The first ones to try the beta also had to download a pre-order code on the Bungie website, before they can start to play.

Fans shouldn’t expect a lot of change content-wise from the PC beta. Just like its console counterpart, the PC beta also features the “Homecoming” story mission and the 4-versus-4 Crucible modes. It also offers the Inverted Spire strike.

Gamers who wish to download the beta must check the specs of their PC if they meet the minimum requirements. Bungie announced last July that PCs should at least have a Core i3-3250 or FX-4350 plus 6GB of RAM. Moreover, they also require at least an HD 7850 or a GTX 660.

For top notch gaming, PCs should have Nvidia – GeForce GTX 970 or AMD – Radeon R9 390 for the GPU. The CPU, on the other hand, should feature an Intel – Core i5-2400 or AMD – Ryzen R5 1600X. Gamers also need to have 8GB of RAM.

Earlier this month, confusion surrounded “Destiny 2” and digital platform store Steam. The game’s microtransaction mistakenly became available on Steam. Bungie community manager David “Deej” Dague clarified via Twitter that it was just an error. “Destiny transactions on Steam were made available in error. All purchases will be refunded manually by Valve. Sorry for the confusion! ” posted Dague.

Moreover, Dague also said that the game will not be coming to PC by any other channels. “We’re with Blizzard. No plans to release Destiny 2 on PC anywhere else. Pass it on,” he tweeted.

“Destiny 2” comes out Sept. 6 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The PC version follows suit on Oct. 24.
