Big Game was the crossover event fans of Mark Millar’s Millarworld had been waiting to see for years. The event brought the main characters of nearly every original title Mark Millar wrote for an epic battle between good and evil. After being eliminated in 1986, superheroes started to return and Wesley Gibson of the Fraternity of Super Criminals went to war to eliminate them once and for all. Numerous heroes came back for the crossover event, and many were put through the wringer. Discover 10 Millarworld heroes that appeared in Big Game and the events they experienced.
10 The Magic Order Was Helpless Until the Final Fight
Big Game #5 by Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz
Cordelia Moonstone and the rest of the Magic Order were one of the few Millarworld heroes who weren’t unceremoniously slaughtered by the Fraternity of Super Criminals. Unfortunately, due to the laws within the Order, Moonstone and every other magic user were helpless to stop the Fraternity since it wasn’t a magic event. However, once Diabolos the Sorcerer gets involved, Cordelia and the Order finally join the fray. She considerably helps the heroes’ side by summoning the heroes of Jupiter’s Legacy and giving Kick-Ass temporary magical powers.
9 The Chrononauts and Edison Crane Were Gunned Down
Big Game #2 by Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz
When the Fraternity began its attack, Dr. Edison Crane, the world’s smartest man, needed to know if the world really did have superheroes before 1986. He and Bobbie Griffin, a hero from the former timeline, team up with Chrononauts Corbin Quinn and Danny Relly to travel four decades into the past. They succeed and Crane witnesses the superheroes of yesteryear. Unfortunately, by the time they get back to the present, the Fraternity’s forces are waiting for them. Crane, Griffin, Quinn, and Reilly are all mowed down by a hail of bullets, a big development in the Fraternity’s favor.
8 The Night Club Was Dissolved and Burned Alive
Big Game #3 by Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz
Once the Fraternity took out Crane and the Chrononauts, it accelerated its genocide of every hero on Earth. The vampiric Night Club’s members Danny and Amy assemble on top of a building, erroneously believing they’d contacted one another. It turns out to be a trap set by the Fraternity. One Fraternity member uses a powerful Alchemy Stick to change the building’s roof into a pool, ensnaring the youths before dissolving the Night Club in holy water. Sam, the only surviving member of Night Club is later killed by Nemesis, who exposes Sam to sunlight, burning the young hero to death.
7 Duke McQueen Died Alongside Earth's Final Heroes
Big Game #4 by Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz
It became clear that the Fraternity of Super Criminals wasn’t going to stop until every hero was unequivocally dead. The President of the United States sent out an emergency call to action for anyone who’d ever been a superhero to combat the Fraternity. Heroes such as Duke McQueen and Justice Forever came together, but the Fraternity was prepared for them. Nemesis critically injured Earth’s last cache of heroes with a unique sonic weaponry, allowing Wesley Gibson to come in and immolate the heroes, leaving nothing of them but bones.
6 The Lovable Huck Was Nuked
Big Game #3 by Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz
Absolutely no hero was safe from the Fraternity’s wholesale slaughter of heroes. Once the evil cabal’s mission got into full swing, they traveled the world hunting down everyone who presented a threat to the Fraternity. The ultra-capable tracker Huck was found at the North Pole, where he had spent three days trying to deliver a polar bear club back to its family after noticing how sad the animal was at the local zoo. Unfortunately for the hero and the little cub, the Fraternity’s forces drop a nuke on Huck, killing him instantly.
5 Superior Died a Beautiful Death
Big Game #3 by Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz
One of the most tragic deaths in Big Game was the murder of Simon Pooni, the man who once lived as the superhero Superior. Simon is confronted by Fraternity members Jackie and Trey who ask about Superior, only to discover Simon’s experience was the result of a bargain with a demonic figure. Simon confirms that his hero career only lasted a week and that he can’t become Superior anymore. Trey opts to let Simon go since he’s not a threat, but Jackie insists they can’t risk it, causing Trey to magically dissolve Simon into light and flowers.
4 Eggsy Was Killed Protecting Hit-Girl
Big Game #3 by Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz
When the Fraternity began its assault on the world’s heroes, its leader Wesly Gibson wanted to make sure Hit-Girl was taken out immediately. However, Kingsman operative Gary “Eggsy” Unwin saves Mindy McCready from driving into a trap. The duo breaks into the Fraternity’s base and discovers the Fraternity storing the Chrononaut’s bodies. Hit-Girl attempts to recover one, only for the Fraternity’s reinforcements to unleash a hailstorm of bullets on the two. The secret agent covers Mindy as she drags Reilly’s body, but unfortunately, Eggsy's head is blown apart, leaving Hit-Girl on her own.
3 The Ambassadors Were Slaughtered with Their Own Powers
Big Game #2 by Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz
The Ambassadors were the strongest super-team on the Earth, so of course the Fraternity had to deal with them early on. Wesley Gibson sends Nemesis to eliminate the team and he draws them into a trap by kidnapping the Ambassadors’ teammate Pakistan. The team arrives to save their comrade, but to their horror, Nemesis and the Fraternity have hijacked the central command that gives the Ambassadors their powers. Not only are the heroes powerless, but Nemesis gets the full range of their abilities, allowing him to indiscriminately slaughter the Ambassadors without mercy.
2 Hit-Girl Traveled Through Time to Defeat the Fraternity
Big Game #3-5 by Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz
The true hero of Big Game is undoubtedly Hit-Girl, the one hero Wesley Gibson was genuinely worried about. After Eggsy dies on their mission to break into the Fraternity’s headquarters, Mindy uses Reilly’s time-travel device to travel 65 million years into the past. Hit-Girl manages to travel through time and winds up several days before the Fraternity’s attack. She’s able to save Crane, Griffin, and the Chrononauts and prevent the deaths of every hero the Fraternity killed. Appropriately enough, Hit-Girl is the one who ends Gibson’s reign of terror by shooting him in the face.
1 Kick-Ass Finally Became the Superhero He Was Meant to Be
Big Game #5 by Mark Millar and Pepe Larraz
Kick-Ass, the hero who helped bring heroes back into the world, finally got to achieve his lifelong dream. As a retiree from superhero work, Dave Lizewski wasn’t targeted by the Fraternity, but when the call for all heroes to suit up, he jumped into action. Kick-Ass meets up with Cordelia Moonstone and inspires her and the Magic Order to take action. She repays Dave’s kind words and gives him actual superpowers, allowing him to participate in the final fight against the Fraternity. As a reward for his bravery and dedication, Kick-Ass becomes America’s representative in the Ambassadors.
There were plenty of jaw-dropping moments for Mark Millar's creations in Big Game, but these 10 show just how shocking and eventful the crossover truly was.
