That first fall cool snap in South Louisiana means it’s time for homecoming football.

The Cajuns like Homecoming Saturday, as they are winners of the last four. Louisiana likes that their opponent is Texas State even more.

Louisiana is a perfect 7-0 against the Bobcats, and will look to continue this string of dominance at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium tomorrow.

Billy Napier has this group firing on all cylinders right now, winners of their last six contests and on the cusp of being ranked in the Top 25 once again. The Cajuns are also a perfect 14-0 against the Sun Belt West division under Napier to go along with 27-5 since the start of 2019 overall.

Louisiana will look to continue their rushing attack, racking up 420 yards rushing against Arkansas St last week. Chris Smith (238 yds, 2 TDs) and Montrell Johnson (150 yds, 2 TDs) both had monster games for the Cajuns and will look to continue that as we head into the last month of the regular season.

With a win over the Bobcats tomorrow, the Cajuns appear to be a lock for their fourth consecutive division title in the Sun Belt West, securing their spot in a 4th consecutive Sun Belt Championship game as well. This dominance of the conference is something still new to Cajuns fans, which before Billy Napier, dealt with being a perennial loser, only getting to 9-4 as the best record in school history.

Injury wise for the Cajuns, they will be without Emani Bailey this week, who hurt his knee vs Arkansas St last week.

The Bobcats come into this matchup struggling a bit as of late. Jake Spavital is in his 3rd season and has yet to get a Texas State team into contention for the West division. The Bobcats, however, have been extremely competitive, although the record may not indicate that. Close games to SMU and Boston College in 2020 as well as Baylor this season give Texas State the sense that they can hang around in the big game.

Brady McBride has been a work in progress for this program. McBride shows signs of greatness in certain plays and the way he can escape the pocket, but he has a serious turnover problem. McBride threw three interceptions against Louisiana last season and already has 10 INTs in 2021.

Texas State has suffered some hits to their receiving corps this season with Donovan Moorer out for the year and both Waydale Jones and Rontavious Groves out indefinitely.

Louisiana will continue their dominant rushing attack against Texas State on Saturday, as well as a great passing performance from Levi Lewis. The Cajun defense will force multiple turnovers against a struggling Bobcat offense and Louisiana wins another Homecoming classic, 38-14.
