Abbie Lund tallied a .500 day at the plate, going 3-for-6 while Kendall Cornick and Mary Pardo each totaled three hits as well. In all, the Vikings recorded 20 hits on the day including three home runs.
Game One: St. Cloud State 7, No. 2 Augustana 6
The Huskies were able to squeeze out a walk-off victory with a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the 7-6 final score. However, the Vikings were in control much of the contest, thanks in part to a three-run home run from the bat of Mary Pardo in the top of the fourth inning to give AU the 6-1 lead.
The first three runs scored by the Vikings were courtesy of an RBI single from Amanda Dickmeyer that scored Torri Chute in the second inning, then a run-scoring double from Gracey Brink in the fourth. Brink pushed home Dickmeyer and Chute.
St. Cloud State scored five unanswered runs, beginning in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game-winning run came with runners on second and third base with one out when Megan Conrads laid down the bunt in an attempt to score Jasmin Estrada. She then slid under the tag at home plate handing the Vikings their first loss in 11 games.
Pardo ended the contest 1-for-3 with the home run and three RBI while Brink was also 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Game Two: No. 2 Augustana 6, St. Cloud State 1
It was all Augustana from nearly start-to-finish in the day's second game. Kennedy Buckman hit an RBI double scoring Abby Lien in the second inning for the early 1-0 advantage.
In the third inning, Abbie Lund and Kendall Cornick both reached base on singles while Ashley Mickschl reached via fielder's choice to load the bases. Torri Chute then hit a sacrifice fly to score Lund from third base.
The next hitter, Abby Lien, then scorched a home run and the 5-0 lead after three innings played. The home run was the third of the season for Lien.
Chute added her own home run in the top of the seventh, her team-leading fifth of the season which proved to be the final score in the 6-1 win.
With the exception of a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth inning, Amber Elliott shut down the Huskies' offense, scattering six hits and striking out eight against just one walk. She picked up her eighth win of the season and now holds an 8-1 mark in the circle.
Augustana totaled 15 hits in the game, a season-high. Seven batters accounted for two hits each including Kendall Cornick, Abbie Lund and Chute who were each 2-for-3. Buckman ended the game 2-for-2 with the RBI.
