‘Pokémon GO’ Just Unleashed The Best Shiny In The Game’s History With Rayquaza - Forbes

Pokémon GO brings back raid bosses regularly, and lately, it’s been doing so while also debuting their shiny forms.

That’s what they’ve just done with Rayquaza, the Gen 3 legendary flying/dragon type that is a giant sky worm and a solid fighter, no matter his color. But his shiny version? Oh man.

Previously, I would say that the best shiny in Pokémon GO is probably the black/red Charizard (bonus points if you can get a Shadow one), but I think shiny Rayquaza has to take the crown. Here’s what normal Rayquaza looks like:

I mean, no contest, come on.

Too often Pokémon GO’s shinies are just turning something that’s light brown into light green or light blue into light pink or literally no change at all like freaking shiny Pikachu which upsets me every time I look at him. He’s the same! He’s exactly the same!

Anyway, shiny Rayquaza is not like that, so you really should be out there trying to catch him over the course of the next month. Shinies in raids appear at a higher rate than shinies in the wild, so he shouldn’t be too hard to find with a little bit of effort.

Rayquaza is a dragon/flying type, so bring your best rocks, dragons, fairies and especially your best ice Pokémon, as he is triple week to them with his two types.

Shiny Rayquaza went live yesterday, and he will be sticking around all the way until September 2 at 1 PM PDT, giving you plenty of time to get this done. I have no idea what mystery events Pokémon GO will have over the course of the next month, but they are really going wild lately with all their Team Rocket stuff, so it kind of seems like the sky’s the limit, especially now that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite arrived and clearly it has not taken Niantic’s focus off of GO in any capacity (nor should it, as that game is pretty bad).
