Washington Commanders Vs New York Giants (Game Two) - Studs and Duds - Hogs Haven

Another game against the meager Giants, another embarrassing loss for Ronald McDonald Rivera. There have been some really bad losses in Ronald’s tenure - the Browns loss with the playoffs on the line, the Bears loss this year, the Cowboys game a few years ago... but this one may top them all. Not only was it to a complete defunct team, but it showed just how poorly coached and poorly prepared this team really is.

Despite racking up nine sacks, Del Rio’s “vaunted” bend-but-don’t break defense allowed Tommy DeVito to look like the second coming of Tom Brady. Players came out after the game and criticized the scheme, saying they didn’t disguise their looks well enough, and some pinned the blame on themselves citing players not following their assignments.

Regardless of who you’d like to blame, this one was UGLY, and ownership should deactivate Ron and Jack’s key-cards Monday morning.

Below are my Studs and Duds of the game, followed by some notes.

Studs:

Brian Robinson - BRob was one of the only bright spots on what was otherwise a very anemic offense Sunday. He ran the ball 17 times for 73 yards and caught seven of nine targets for 58 yards.

David Mayo - This may be the first and only time you see Mayonnaise on the Studs list, but the dude was all over the place Sunday afternoon. He had six tackles, three for a loss, and two sacks.

KJ Henry - Henry played a very good game against the Giants. Rushing mostly from his right end position and going up against Andrew Thomas for the majority of the game, Henry had four tackles, one for a loss, 1.5 sacks and a batted ball on the afternoon.

Jon Allen - Allen finally broke out of his season slump, racking up four tackles, two for a loss and 1.5 sacks on the afternoon.

Duds:

Sam Howell - Yes Sam has Moxy. Yes Sam is tough as nails. Yes Sam has some great upside... however Sam had a bad game against New York. He threw three interceptions, one a pick-6, and had another very easy one dropped. There will be better days for the youngster, but Sunday afternoon was not one of them.

Logan Thomas/Chris Rodriguez/Byron Pringle - Even against a bad team, you can’t turn the ball over six times and expect to win. These three each lost a fumble on the afternoon.

Charles Leno - Leno was back to his unreliable self against the Giants and Kayvon Thibodeaux (surprise, surprise). He allowed two sacks, two quarterbacks hits and multiple pressures on the day. If Thibodeaux could play against Leno for eight games of the year, he’d be an All-Pro.

Chris Paul/Tyler Larsen - Paul and Larsen were having one heck of a time deciding who DIDN’T want to block Dexter Lawrence all game.

Jack Del Rio - Nine sacks is great, but when your defense allows an undrafted rookie quarterback starting just his second game to go 18/26 for 246 yards and three touchdowns, you deserve to be fired!

Eric Bieniemy - As far as I’m concerned, he too can go along with the rest in the house-cleaning. Mahomes can make anyone look good...

Ronald McDonald Rivera - Of course, no Duds list would be complete without the Head Dud-Master himself. You know, the man who constructed this complete mess and wasted four years of what could have been a decent rebuild. Row-Boat will go down as one of the most bumbling, stumbling clowns to lead this team in quite some time - and that is saying a LOT!

Notes:

-Jamin Davis had some good moments. It wasn’t his fault he was asked to cover one of the best overall athletes in the NFL one-on-one.

-Daron Payne did a nice job generating pressures on the afternoon and collecting a sack.

-Percy Butler had a much better day tackling.

-Besides his easy sack where he was unblocked, Casey Toohill has a rather quiet afternoon.

-I think I’m done with Dyami Brown - for good. The drops and general lack of effort tell me he’ll be out of the league before too long.

-I’m starting to get really mad about these Joey Slye missed extra points!

-Happy Thanksgiving!
