PlayStation Plus subscribers impressed with 'beautiful Zelda-like adventure' game - GAMINGbible

PlayStation Plus subscribers have been left dazzled by a “beautiful Zelda-like adventure”. The only problem is, you have just a few weeks left to enjoy this hidden gem.

Before we dive in, allow me to bring you up to speed on the month’s PlayStation Plus offerings. The August extra and premium tier catalogue drop consisted of 17 games. You can now enjoy day one release Moving Out 2, alongside Midnight Fight Express, Lost Judgement, and Destiny 2: The Witch Queen. That’s just to name a few. I do want to point out though that the delightful-looking Sea of Stars is set to land as a day one release on 29 August. Everyone can currently enjoy essential tier offerings PGA Tour 2K23, Dreams, and Death’s Door. Let’s get back to the game in question though. PlayStation Plus subscribers are just discovering the lovely Chicory: A Colorful Tale.

Take a look at Chicory: A Colorful Tale in action below.

Developed by Greg Lobanov and published by Finji, Chicory sees you play as a dog armed with a magical paintbrush. It’s a gem of a game and I urge you to play it, as Reddit user PurplMaster has just discovered. They wrote, “I was pleasantly surprised by Chicory. Since it's leaving next month and I was always drawn to its cute aesthetic, I decided to give Chicory a try, despite being an ‘artistic’ game and me being barely able to hold a pencil. The game is a canvas for creative drawing, a thing that is totally absent in me, but it never forces you to partake in this kind of activity. If you're tasked to draw ‘happiness’ and just draw a line, people are happy.”

They continued, “Taking out all the artistic stuff, you have a beautiful Zelda-like adventure with some puzzle dungeons and new abilities unlocked as you progress, and an emotionally charged story that touches upon themes of depression, anxiety, and [the] stress that come[s] with responsibility. I had a blast with it.”

Plenty agreed. “It’s a great little game,” quantumbinman added. As the OP pointed out though, Chicory is due to leave PS Plus next month. It’ll depart on 19 September so you still have plenty of time left to enjoy it.
