ATLANTA -- Ohio State football is back in the College Football Playoff after backing in as a non-conference champion, and its reward is a matchup everyone’s waited a year to see against Georgia
The game between the Buckeyes and the Bulldogs will kick off at 8 p.m. on ESPN with Chris Fowler on play-by-play, Kirk Herbstreit serving as color commentator and Holly Rowe as sideline reporter. The trio has called three OSU games this season, each of the previous broadcasting on ABC in wins over Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Michigan State.

This will be just the second-ever meeting between the two programs, with the first coming in the 1993 Florida Citrus Bowl. Georgia won that game 21-14.
Georgia closed out its season 13-0, winning its first SEC Championship since 2017 by beating LSU 50-30. As the reining national championships, it’s won 15 straight games and 15 straight games against non-conference opponents. Its last loss to a non-SEC team was to Texas in the 2019 Sugar Bowl.
The Buckeyes once again failed to beat Michigan — who’s also made the playoff and will face TCU in the Fiesta Bowl — and reach the Big Ten Championship game. This is the second time they’ve still managed to make the playoff as a non-conference champion. They did so in 2016 before losing to eventual national champion Clemson 31-0 in the Fiesta Bowl.
