Seahawks vs. Buccaneers live score, updates, highlights from 2022 NFL Germany game - Sporting News

The Seahawks and Buccaneers are ready to face off in a historic NFL game.

Seattle and Tampa Bay will be the first teams in league history to play a game in Germany, a country that has an impressive American football following. Whether those squads can live up to the expectations of the host nation remains to be seen, but there are plenty of storylines heading into the meeting.

Chief among those is the career resurgence of Geno Smith, who took over as the Seahawks' quarterback without many outside expectations. Nine games and a 6-3 record later, Smith has Seattle in a commanding position atop the NFC West.

Conversely, Tom Brady has not had the 2022 campaign he might have hoped to enjoy when he came out of retirement in the offseason. That said, the 45-year-old future Hall of Famer is coming off a game in which he engineered a last-minute comeback over the defending Super Bowl champion Rams. That helped him avoid his first four-game losing streak as a starter.

The QB duel between Smith and Brady is the biggest story heading into Sunday's game, but not the only one. The Sporting News is tracking all the action from the first NFL Germany game. Check out the updates and highlights below.

Seahawks vs. Buccaneers live updates, highlights from Germany game

(All times Eastern)

Fourth quarter: Buccaneers 14, Seahawks 3

11:43 a.m.: White gets the yardage necessary and more for a conversion. The Bucs have first-and-goal from the 4-yard line.

11:42 a.m.: Brady is harping at officials asking for a measurement of the ball. They oblige and measure the ball down a half-yard short of the line to gain, setting up third down.

11:40 a.m.: Brady takes his time in the pocket and finds Cade Otton deep in the zone for a 25-yard gain to the 16-yard line.

Third quarter: Buccaneers 14, Seahawks 3

11:36 a.m.: Emphatic gain for Rachaad White, who busts out the left side and rolls for 29 yards to put the Bucs in Seahawks territory as the third quarter comes to a close.

11:34 a.m.: Big third-down conversion for the Bucs as Brady hits Godwin for 12 yards to keep Tampa Bay from having to punt out of its own end zone.

11:31 a.m.: Fumble recovery, Buccaneers. Smith sacked by Devin White, loses the ball, and Anthony Nelson recovers for Tampa Bay at the 13. Brutal blow for the Seahawks after their offense had real momentum for the first time all game. It's the Bucs defense's first takeaway in five games.

11:30 a.m.: Walker now asserting himself, his 4-yard run, 4-yard catch on a swing pass and 5-yard rush up the middle gives Seattle its first third-down conversion of the game (previously 0 for 6).

11:25 a.m.: Seattle is moving now, as Smith hits Noah Fant, Metcalf, Walker and Metcalf again on consecutive plays to get the Seahawks into Tampa Bay territory.

11:19 a.m.: Interception, Seahawks. Fournette takes the direct snap out of the Wildcat formation, then attempts to throw it to Brady down the sideline. The quarterback slips and falls, resulting in an easy interception for Tariq Woolen. To add insult to injury, Brady is called for tripping, giving Seattle the ball at its 16 instead of the 6-yard line.

11:18 a.m.: Brady connects with Godwin down the sideline for an 18-yard connection to the 22-yard line.

11:17 a.m.: White takes the pitch left for a 2-yard gain to the 48-yard line and a fresh set of downs for Tampa.

11:16 a.m.: Delayed handoff to Fournette goes for 7 yards to set up third-and-short from midfield.

11:15 a.m.: Brady to Jones with tight coverage for 5 yards on the quick out. That's a first down at the 41-yard line.

11:12 a.m.: Bucs are back on the field at the 29-yard line. Meanwhile, Mike Pereira is talking about what Metcalf may have said to the official to elicit the penalty.

11:09 a.m.: FIELD GOAL, SEAHAWKS. Seattle finally gets on the board with a 55-yard field goal Jason Myers (made more difficult after an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty by Metcalf on an incomplete deep ball; he appeared to say something to the official). Either way, Bucs lead 14-3 with 12:05 left in the third quarter.

11:06 a.m.: Nice power move by Metcalf to get the first-down yardage:

10:19 a.m.: Bucs face third-and-2 from their own 22.

10:14 a.m.: Smith rolls right and appeared to have enough room to rush for a first down. But he threw it at Metcalf's feet instead, bringing out the punt team at the Seahawks' own 35. Darden fair-catches the ball at the Bucs' 14-yard line.

10:12 a.m.: The Seahawks take over at their 27-yard line following the kickoff.

10:08 a.m.: TOUCHDOWN, BUCS. Brady finds Julio Jones underneath on a crossing route, and he takes it the rest of the way on a 31-yard touchdown! The Buccaneers lead 7-0 with 13:40 left in the half.
