DEVILS (15-21-5) AT LIGHTNING (28-10-5)
TV: 7:00 PM ET; Televised on MSG+
Head-to-Head
The Devils and Lightning will face off for the second time this season.
New Jersey won the previous meeting back in November by a score of 5-3 in a come-from-behind victory in Tampa. They will meet again on February 15, a game rescheduled from earlier in the season.
Devils team scope:
The Devils have dropped their last two decisions and only have one win in their last six games. Now comes a tough road trip where they will play the second, sixth and eighth best teams in the NHL in that order in Tampa Bay, Carolina and Toronto.
New Jersey is 26th in the NHL, 15 points behind Boston for the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with three teams between them and the Bruins.
Jesper Bratt continues to lead the Devils in scoring with 37 points in 38 games. With 41 games left in the season, Bratt's already surpassed his career high of 35 set in his rookie campaign.
Jack Hughes is now tied for second in team scoring with 24 points (Andreas Johnsson). His career high is 31 points set last year in 56 games.
Lightning team scope:
The Lightning are tied for second in the NHL in points with 61. They're second in the Atlantic Division, however, as the Florida Panthers sit first overall at 63.
Steven Stamkos leads the way for the Bolts with 50 points in 42 games, ranking seventh in the NHL in scoring. Victor Hedman has 44 points in 43 contests which is second among NHL defensemen.

By the Numbers:
The Devils have registered a power play goal in each of their last five games and has a total of nine goals with the man advantage in their last 12 contests...
Fifteen points out of a playoff spot is certainly a tough position for the Devils to be in 41 games into the season. it should be noted that the St. Louis Blues in 2018-19 were last in the NHL near the midway point of the season with 34 points (15-18-4) but rallied to not only make the playoffs easily but went on to win the Stanley Cup. The 2014-15 Ottawa Senators were 15 points out of a playoff spot on February 10, 52 games into the season. They rallied to make the playoffs, finishing 7th in the East.
