SLU Hosts ULM to Open 10-Game Home Stand - Southeastern Lions Athletics

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will open a 10-game home stand on Wednesday, welcoming ULM for a 6 p.m. nonconference contest at North Oak Park.

The game between the Lady Lions (24-16) and the visiting Warhawks (13-23) will be televised on ESPN+ with Tyler Thomas on the call. Fans can also enjoy fireworks in conjunction with Wednesday's contest.

SLU will be looking to bounce back from dropping its first Southland Conference series in six tries this season last weekend in Huntsville, Texas. After opening the series with a 13-0 victory, the Lady Lions saw host Sam Houston recover to take the next two games.

Head coach Rick Fremin's squad enters Wednesday's game with a healthy .288 batting average. Audrey Greely leads the way and ranks seventh in the Southland with a .396 batting average, while Lindsey Rizzo (.371), Aeriyl Mass (.360) and Cameron Goodman (.322) are the other top hitters for average.

Mass also leads the Southland with 34 runs and 50 hits, while her team-high 26 RBI are good for sixth in the league. Mass and Greely share the team lead with three home runs and six doubles each, while Goodman sits in second place in the conference with three triples to pace the Lady Lions.

SLU is second nationally with 114 stolen bases. Mass (24, 2nd), Goodman (22, 3rd), Rizzo (22, 3rd), Greely (12, 10th) and Kelci Bodin (12, 10th) all rank among the Southland stolen base leaders.

A quartet of arms have handled the majority of the work in the circle for a SLU pitching staff that has a 3.83 earned run average. Heather Zumo (14-3, 2.00 ERA) ranks among the Southland leaders in virtually every pitching category, while MC Comeaux (8-5, 4.96 ERA) and Sophie Hannabas (2-4, 6.14 ERA) are the other primary starters for the Lady Lions. Ellie DuBois (0-2, 2.78 ERA, 6 saves) has thrived in the closer role, leading the Southland with her single-season school record save total.

SLU will be facing a ULM lineup that enters Wednesday's contest with a .261 team batting average. Korie Kreps leads the Warhawks with a .343 batting average, while Jayden Mount tops the visitors with four home runs and 20 RBI.

In the circle, five different Warhawks have combined for a 5.14 team ERA. Gianni Hulett (4-5, 3.80 ERA, 2 saves), Adrianna Chavarria (1-7, 5.50 ERA, 1 save), Murphy Williams (2-5, 7.06 ERA), Amber Coons (3-4, 6.06 ERA) and Kassidy Giddens (3-2, 4.59 ERA) have all split time in the circle for ULM.

Southeastern and ULM will be facing off for the second time this season. Back on March 24 in Monroe, the Lady Lions edged the Warhawks in a 2-1 pitcher's duel.
