The Pittsburgh Steelers have not earned the AFC's No. 1 seed since 2004, Ben Roethlisberger's rookie season. And while there is still a quarter remaining in the 2020 regular season, a win on Monday over visiting Washington would keep the 11-0 Steelers one game ahead of the defending champion Chiefs in the race for the AFC's top seed.
Standing in Pittsburgh's way is a Washington team that is fighting to keep pace with the Giants in the race to win the NFC East. After a 2-7 start, the Football Team has won consecutive games behind the play of quarterback Alex Smith, receiver Terry McLaurin, rookie running back Antonio Gipson and a defense that is second in the NFL in pass defense and red zone efficiency and third in sacks. Adding to Pittsburgh's challenge is the absences of outside linebacker Bud Dupree (who suffered a torn ACL last Wednesday), running back James Conner, center Maurkice Pouncey, cornerback Steven Nelson and kicker Chris Boswell.
Will the Steelers find a way to stay undefeated, or will Washington win their first game in Pittsburgh since 1991? Follow our live blog throughout Monday's game to find out.
