NFL Games on TV Today (Sunday, Dec. 13) - Athlon Sports

Week 14 of the NFL season continues on Sunday, Dec. 13, with a jam-packed schedule of 14 games — the most since Week 3. Teams are finally done with byes, and with no rescheduled games due to the coronavirus pandemic (knock on wood), the Red Zone channel will be busy.

Not only is today's slate packed, but it's also packed with high-quality games. There are five including teams with winning records or division leads. That second qualifier was necessary, of course, because of the NFC East, but the Giants-Cardinals game in the early slate could easily be a playoff preview. Joining them in the early slate is Chiefs-Dolphins and Vikings-Bucs.

Colts-Raiders, a matchup of the AFC's No. 7 seed (last wild-card team) and the team right behind, will be the highlight of the late-afternoon slate, although Washington-San Francisco and Saints-Eagles will carry playoff implications as well. And Steelers-Bills will be an excellent nightcap on "Sunday Night Football."

So if you're wondering "What NFL games are on today?" know this: There are 14 scheduled for today, Sunday, Dec. 13.

NFL Games on TV Today

Houston at Chicago, 1 p.m. on CBS

This game is a good reason to remember that Chicago traded up a spot in the 2017 NFL Draft to take Mitchell Trubisky over Deshaun Watson (and Patrick Mahomes). Bears head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace clearly messed that one up, but they could use a win in this game to save their jobs.

Dallas at Cincinnati, 1 p.m. on FOX

Andy Dalton will return to Cincy to face his longtime team, although his replacement at quarterback, Joe Burrow, is unfortunately sidelined for the rest of the season. Here's hoping the limited fans at Paul Brown Stadium will give Dalton, who went 70-61-2 over nine seasons with the team, a warm welcome.

Kansas City at Miami, 1 p.m. on CBS

The Chiefs, which have one of the league's best passing attacks, have already wrapped up a playoff berth but badly would like the AFC's lone bye that comes with the No. 1 seed. The Dolphins, which have one of the league's best pass defenses, are one game out of the AFC East lead and are clinging to a wild-card spot.

Arizona at New York Giants, 1 p.m. on FOX

These teams are headed in opposite directions, as the Giants have won four straight to take over first place in the NFC East while the Cardinals have dropped out of the playoffs after losing three in a row.

Minnesota at Tampa Bay, 1 p.m. on FOX

The Buccaneers had a much-needed bye last week after dropping three of four. That rest and extra planning were needed as they face a Vikings team that has won five of six since its bye. These teams enter as the No. 6 and No. 7 seeds in the NFC, so this is close to a must-win.

Denver at Carolina, 1 p.m. on CBS

After a hot start under first-year head coach Matt Rhule, the Panthers have lost six of seven before last week's bye. Denver, meanwhile, has won four of nine after an 0-3 start. This game may be more about draft positioning than anything since both teams are 4-8.

Tennessee at Jacksonville, 1 p.m. on CBS

The Titans look like world-beaters on occasion, but when they lose a game, they do it big. Could a poor showing be enough for the Jaguars to earn their second win of the season? That task will fall on Mike Glennon's shoulder for the third time this season.

Indianapolis at Las Vegas, 4:05 p.m. on CBS

These teams are jockeying for position in a crowded AFC playoff field, although both teams have been up-and-down lately. The Colts got blown out by the Titans 45-26 two weeks ago, while the Raiders lost 43-6 to the Falcons before nearly giving the Jets their first win last week.

New York Jets at Seattle, 4:05 p.m. on CBS

Speaking of those Jets, they'll have the tall task of heading into Seattle, where the Seahawks are the only double-digit favorites this week. New Jets defensive coordinator Frank Bush will have his hands full in his first game after replacing Gregg Williams in trying to contain Russell Wilson.

Green Bay at Detroit, 4:25 p.m. on FOX

The Lions won a big game over the rival Bears in their first game after firing Matt Patricia, so maybe there's some life left in this team. Could it be a dead-cat bounce? Well, beating the Packers is a tall task — something Detroit hasn't done in its last three meetings.

New Orleans at Philadelphia, 4:25 p.m. on FOX

Few would have expected for Taysom Hill and Jalen Hurts to be the starting quarterbacks in this game, but here we are. Due to injuries and poor play, both teams have (potentially) temporary changes at quarterback. This should be fascinating to watch, even if the action may get sloppy at times.

Atlanta at Los Angeles Chargers, 4:25 p.m. on FOX

Talk about cursed NFL teams, is it possible for both teams to find novel ways to lose this game? No lead has been safe with either team this season (or decade), so the comic potential in this game is as great as any since, well, Lions-Falcons in Week 7.

Washington at San Francisco, 4:25 p.m. on FOX

Both teams may have a losing record, but they're each a win outside of the playoffs at 5-7. There's plenty of games left for both teams to turn around their seasons, as evidenced by Washington's win over previously-undefeated Pittsburgh this past Monday.

Pittsburgh at Buffalo, 8:20 p.m. on NBC (SNF)

Now that they're no longer undefeated, the Steelers are underdogs on the road against Buffalo. They're not finished, of course, but three games in 12 days is a tough task. This should be a high-quality Sunday night game after a couple of snoozers this season.
