After the Gators and Bulldogs combined for 28 points in the first quarter -- the most in this rivalry series since 1942 -- the second quarter was a bit lower-scoring but not any less important as UF holds a 38-21 lead in the annual showdown.
Georgia running back Zamir White took the opening play 75 yards for a touchdown, and the Bulldogs capitalized on their early momentum with quarterback Stetson Bennett IV hitting Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint for a 32-yard touchdown to give UGA a 14-0 lead. However, both players were injured on the latter score, though Bennett eventually returned.
Florida stormed right back, outscoring Georgia 38-7 through the end of the half as QB Kyle Trask started 20 of 26 with 341 yards and four touchdowns. Star tight end Kyle Pitts brought down one of those scores but was later knocked out of the game with a concussion on a targeting play that led to an ejection for Dawgs defensive back Lewis Cine. Georgia's only score during the Gators' run came on a pick six Trask threw when freshman Xzavier Henderson ran the wrong route in Florida territory. Georgia's offense has not scored since the 11:44 mark of the first quarter.
