Because the newest generation of gaming consoles has just been released, we’re unlikely to find any deals for the Xbox Series X or the PlayStation 5. GameStop has mentioned that it plans to have Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles in store for Black Friday (selling at full price), but the stock will be limited, making it a first-come, first-served situation (and we don’t recommend shopping in stores during the pandemic). More likely than not, the Black Friday deals we’ll spot will be for games, subscriptions, and last-gen consoles.

Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller (Best Buy)

Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller (Walmart)
Deal price: $39; street price: $55
Read our review of the best PC gaming controller.

While it's not the best price we've seen, this is a good drop on our runner-up pick for best gaming controller. This controller hasn't seen discounts in recent months so this is a good time to buy if you're just starting your gaming career or next and extra controller. You might like Microsoft’s Xbox Wireless Controller over the Playstation controller if you have larger hands, if you buy most of your games outside of Steam, if you want more color options, or if you simply prefer Xbox controllers.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 3-Month Membership
Deal price: $20; street price: $40
Read our review of the best game consoles.

Whether you're new to Xbox or a long-time veteran, this pick accessory offers a lot of value. Game Pass Ultimate combines Xbox Live Gold with Game Pass, so you get access to online multiplayer plus their large, Netflix-style catalog of new and old games to download and play. It's a service we especially like for those who play a lot of games on PC or Xbox One. The lowest we've seen the 3-Month membership go, this is an excellent opportunity to save, especially if you plan on picking up a new game console this holiday.

Back down to $45 when you use code BFRDAY35, this recurring deal offers another nice opportunity to save on a $50 Xbox Gift Card. It can be used for purchases at the Microsoft Store online, on Windows, or on Xbox, and we've yet to see the price drop lower. It's a great value and is effectively free money if you were already planning on buying some digital games and accessories for your console or computer.

Star Wars: Squadrons
Deal price: $20; street price: $40

(Xbox One physical and digital, but only physical for PlayStation 4). If you've ever dreamed of flying an X-wing in a dogfight against the Empire or crushing Rebel scum in a TIE bombing raid, this is the game you've been waiting for. Star Wars: Squadrons has a single player campaign, online co-op, and of course, the ability to play online multiplayer in 5v5 starfight combat. And if that isn't immersive enough, you can even play with HOTAS controls to really get in the action. For those who don't want digital, you can snag a $17 physical copy for Xbox One.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2
Deal price: $25; street price: $40
Read our review of the best game consoles.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is a hit of sweet nostalgia: the game play is great and the soundtrack is as good as it ever was. If you were a fan before, you will easily slide back into the remake as you spend hours mastering your combos and checking off your lists. Right now, you can pretend you're a superman again for only $30 through Microsoft.

Watch Dogs: Legion
Deal price: $40; street price: $60
Read our review of the best game consoles.

If your itch for a game set in a dystopian future has increased after every Cyberpunk 2077 delay (I know mine has), Watch Dogs: Legion might tide you over for a time. Set in a near-future London in the Watch Dogs universe (late 2020's to early 2030's), you play as a series of characters set against the growing authoritarian regime ruled and empowered by powerful tech corporations. With the ability to recruit and then play as nearly any character you see out in the vast open-world setting, Legion is technically impressive, fun to play, and a good time if you want to play vigilante hero by HACKING THE PLANET to save the world.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time - Xbox
Deal price: $40; street price: $60
Read our review of the best game consoles.

It's about time. Crash Bandicoot 4 has finally arrived, 22 years after Crash Bandicoot: Warped. If you grew up with the nostalgia of the legendary bandicoot, recently played the remastered trilogy, or are just looking for a fun and lengthy platformer, it's definitely worth picking up Crash 4. Available for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (and playable on the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 respectively), this is the first major drop we've seen since release.

Ghosts of Tsushima - PS4
Deal price: $40; street price: $60
Read our review of the best game consoles.

If you ever wanted to live out the dream of playing a samurai in a Kurosawa-esque game, Ghost of Tsushima is down to the lowest price we've seen. Set in the late 13th century, you play a samurai set on defending his home from the first Mongol invasion of Japan, no matter the cost. If an action-adventure stealth game where you explore a large open world (think Assassin's Creed, but as a ninja in Japan) with beautiful vistas and cinematic fights sounds like your cup of tea, it's worth picking up now while it's on sale. And once you're done with the single player campaign, you can hop into Legends, the 4-player multiplayer co-op horde mode that was recently just added to the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - PS4
Deal price: $20; street price: $38

Red Dead Redemption 2 - Xbox

If you enjoyed the first Red Dead Redemption, the prequel will not disappoint. A true cowboy sim with an epic storyline, Red Dead Redemption 2 follows Arthur Morgan and the Van Der Linde gang in their quest to escape the law and settle down—leaving the outlaw life behind. The game is set in a beautiful and expansive open world that will keep you eagerly coming back for that "one last job" Dutch keeps going on about. This deal is available for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (and playable on the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 respectively).

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice GOTY Edition - PS4

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice GOTY Edition - Xbox
Deal price: $25; street price: $55
Read our review of the best game consoles.

Whether you're looking for another Dark Souls fix or just want a hard game to conquer, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice delivers. Like Ghosts of Tsushima, Sekiro is set in feudal Japan. But where Ghosts of Tsushima is semi-grounded in realism, Sekiro delves deep into a far more brutal and fantastical setting. This game is not easy. You will die, repeatedly. But if you've played or heard of Dark Souls and Demon Souls, you know exactly what sort of experience you're getting into. It's brutal, beautiful, and the only thing greater than the frustration of losing to an impossible boss repeatedly is the feeling of triumph when you finally overcome it. And as the winner of several 2019 Game of the Year awards, it has stayed popular (read: expensive) for a long time, so it's nice to save some money on what's going to be a painful (but rewarding!) experience. Available for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (and playable on the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 respectively).

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order: Deluxe Edition - Xbox One Digital Code
Deal price: $28; street price: $70
Read our review of the best game consoles.

If The Mandalorian season 2 has you itching for more Star Wars, this is a great time to pick up Jedi Fallen Order. Down to the lowest price we've seen, this is a pretty great deal for the deluxe edition of the digital Xbox version. Taking place a few years after the events of Episode III, Fallen Order follows Padawan Cal Kestis as he tries to complete his training, survive the Empire's Inquisitors, and rebuild the fallen Jedi Order. A purely single-player experience, Fallen Order is a must buy for any Star Wars fans. The Deluxe edition includes a few cosmetic skins, digital art book, and a 90 minute behind-the-scenes video of footage from the making of the game. If none of that sounds interesting to you, the standard edition is also on sale for $4 less.

The Last of Us Part II - PS4
Deal price: $30; street price: $60
Read our review of the best game consoles.

It's no secret that the highly anticipated Last of Us Part II was an aggressive follow-up to its critically acclaimed predecessor. Its often brutal nature has left some fans reeling, but it's undoubtedly as impressive and gut-wrenching as the first. If you're excited about playing as Ellie and you're not squeamish, right now you can snag this game for only $30 for the PS4.
