Best Anime Game

Genshin Impact

We're kicking off this list with one of the most anticipated games this year. It's also one of the best PC games this year in general, and one of the biggest launches of the year. Scoring over 20 million pre-registrations prior to the game's official launch in late September.

Genshin Impact is an open-world anime RPG that is filled with a vast landscape to explore, tons of single player content, co-op play, gorgeous visuals, and it's completely free to play.

The free to play aspect will immediately turn some people off. But it shouldn't. Not with this game. It's been getting rave reviews for numerous reasons including how anti pay to win it is. On top of it just being a really excellent game with a fun story and some really damn good combat.

Genshin Impact is also cross platform. You can play it on PC, but you can also play it on PS4, and Mobile. Best of all is that you can hop between PC and Mobile. meaning all your characters and progress transfer between both. Which makes it very versatile.

Best online party game

Among Us

Among Us is a game which actually came out in 2018 so it's a two-year old game. But in the past month or two it's gotten extremely popular, and as of this week it's risen to the top of Steam's best-selling games list.

Among Us is also fairly cheap at $4.99, or it's free to play on Android. This is a party game where you are one of a group of crew members on a space ship that is about to take off and head out for a long journey.

But one or more members of the crew are impostors and their sole intent is to kill every other person on the ship. If you're not the killer, your only goals are to stay alive and figure out who the killer is.

Among Us supports local and online co-op, and it's cross-platform play which means you can play on PC and your friends can play on Mobile.

Best Space Fighting Game

Star Wars: Squadrons

Star Wars: Squadrons is the latest game in the Star Wars franchise from EA, and is primarily an action game where you fly around in space dogfighting other players.

There is a single player campaign, and although short, it's quite fun and familiarizes you with the controls. It's also compatible with VR which presents you with a fairly awesome way to experience the gameplay.

In Star Wars: Squadrons you can play as pilots both from the New Republic and Imperial Fleet. Unlock and master various starfighters as you play and progress, and level up your account. You can also unlock new weapons, components for your ship, shields, hulls, cosmetic items and more.

Best Action Rogue-Like Game

Hades

Hades is the most recent game from Supergiant Games, the acclaimed developers behind Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre.

Unlike those games, Hades is an action rogue-like dungeon crawler. However, it does implement many of the elements that were in all three of those games as well. Making it unique in its own way but also undeniably something from Supergiant games.

You play as Zagreus, the son of Hades, who is trying to escape the underworld and you'll have to fight your way out. The game is filled with gorgeous visuals like every Supergiant Games title, really cool and challenging combat, and an engaging story that you can easily get into.

Best Online Shooter Game

Valorant

Valorant is the latest game from Riot Games, and is a third-person online shooter that is similar to CS: GO. It has an interesting collection of characters with unique abilities that can change the landscape of a match, as well as a wide variety of different weapons to choose from.

You can unlock and level up your characters, account, and weapons as you play. And Valorant is also completely free.

That being said it does take some getting used to. If you're used to FPS multiplayer from games like Call Of Duty or Destiny 2, you will find the controls and the gameplay to be quite different here.

Best Battle Royale Game

Fall Guys

Fall Guys is a battle royale game but also an online party game. It supports up to 60 players, and all of you are vying for the same thing. To be the winner.

Jump in and rush to the end of a giant obstacle course dodging all kinds of things and trying to do anything you can to squeeze past your opponents. The game also features a cooperative challenge mode where you must work with other players to overcome said challenges.

You can even unlock tons of different character customizations to give your own Fall Guy a unique look.

Best First-Person Shooter Game

DOOM Eternal

DOOM has been around for a very long time in the gaming world and DOOM Eternal is the latest game in the franchise to hit the market. It was released back in March 2020 but just recently received its latest update which also happens to be the first DLC expansion – The Ancient Gods Part One.

If you're unfamiliar with DOOM Eternal and the franchise, this is a chaos-filled romp through hell on earth as you slay demons with a vast arsenal of weapons, skills, and a little bit of determination.

Expect plenty of blood, awesome graphics, and a surprisingly good story.

Best JRPG Game

Persona 4 Golden

Persona 4 Golden was originally released for the PlayStation Vita back in 2012. But a little earlier this year it was released onto PC for the first time via Steam.

Loved by many who fancy JRPG games, Persona 4 Golden is also considered by a fair amount of Persona fans as the best game in the series. As this is a JRPG, Persona 4 Golden features a rich story with hours upon hours upon hours of gameplay.

Persona games are deeply complex when it comes to the narrative and allow you to do everything from battling the many different types of enemies to building relationships with friends.

It also features mini-games and a very robust roster of playable characters.

Best MOBA Game

League Of Legends

League of Legends needs little introduction for most people, but for the uninitiated this is a multiplayer online battle arena game, or MOBA.

While it does feature multiple game modes, the main one is a 5 v 5 match where you and your teammates must drive up one (or all) of three lanes, destroying enemy towers and eventually destroying the enemy nexus within the enemy's base.

There is a very large roster of characters, many of which have extremely unique abilities and play styles, unlockable skins, and highly competitive gameplay. Not to mention ranked mode, and practice mode for honing your skills.

Best MMO Game

Final Fantasy XIV: Complete Edition

Final Fantasy XIV is in many ways, today's best MMO game. And the Complete Edition comes with everything, which includes the base game and all three expansions. It's available on PC, but also available on PS4 and it's cross-platform play. Your account is also linked if you have the game on both platforms, which means you can swap gameplay between them.

In Final Fantasy XIV you'll have a long and engaging story to follow through the main scenario quests, as well as side quests, dungeons, raids, PvP battles, and everything under the sun that you can imagine.

Even if you finish the main story content, there are multiple classes (known as jobs) to level up. You can even buy plots of land, build a house, and fill that house with all sorts of decorations. You can also cook food, harvest all manner of ingredients, materials, and more.

There is no shortage of things to fill your time and you will always have something to do. And of course it's an MMO so there's loads of other people to play with. if you haven't played an MMO before, or even if you have but haven't tried FF XIV, give it a short as it's definitely one of the best PC games around and it will be for years to come.
