The stage is set for the battle to lift Lord Stanley's Cup in utter jubilation. The Tampa Bay Lightning will face off against the Dallas Stars in a seven-game series in a spectatorless arena in Edmonton starting Saturday with Game 1.
The Tampa Bay Lightning's recent history can be characterized by its underachievement. The roster has been filled with the talent that one might expect to compete for championships, but they never really came close to being crowned champs themselves. Their closest chance was 2015, when they lost the Stanley Cup Final to the Chicago Blackhawks in six games.
Standing in Tampa Bay's way is one of the unlikeliest stories of the postseason: the Dallas Stars. This offensively stagnant team showed that playoff success can sometimes be just about getting hot at the right moment. Both Franchises are looing for a second Stanley Cup -- Dallas on the Cup on 1999, and Tampa Bay won in 2004.
