The defensive line coaches in this week's contest share a bond as the Blue Devils' Ben Albert spent three seasons (2013-14-15) on the staff at Boston College while his Eagle counterpart, Vince Oghobaase, lettered four seasons (2006-07-08-09) as a defensive tackle at Duke, twice earning All-ACC honors in addition to an All-America citation from The Sporting News in 2009.
The Blue Devils fell, 27-13, to No. 10 Notre Dame in their season opener last Saturday ... In his Duke debut, QB Chase Brice threw for 259 yards while rushing for the Blue Devils' lone TD ... CB Mark Gilbert, playing for the first time since Sept. 8, 2018, and LB Shaka Heyward led the Duke defense with seven tackles each.

Senior TE Noah Gray led all ACC tight ends and ranked second among Power 5 TEs with 51 receptions last year, his first as a full-time starter ... the 2019 second team All-America selection by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and second team All-ACC honoree, finished tied with WR Jalon Calhoun with a team-leading five receptions in Duke's season opener at No. 10 Notre Dame ... he compiled 68 yards during that contest to shift his career numbers to 81 receptions for 731 yards and six TDs ... the 81 catches have him sixth all-time in Duke's career receptions by a tight end ... Gray is 17 grabs shy of tying Stan Crisson's record of 98 ... the Leominister, Mass., native has not missed a game since arriving at Duke prior to the 2017 season, has recorded 20+ receiving yards in 16 games throughout his career, and last Saturday recorded his 13th consecutive game with two+ receptions.
During last Saturday's season opener, Duke's top three receivers in TE Gray, WR Calhoun and WR Eli Pancol compiled 208 yards on 13 catches ... as a unit, the Blue Devils registered 200+ receiving yards against an FBS opponent just twice all of last season (Middle Tennessee and North Carolina).
Duke's season-opener at Notre Dame marked the expected return of CB Gilbert, who had not played since suffering a hip injury at Northwestern on Sept. 9, 2018 ... The decorated veteran played for the first time in 734 days and logged seven tackles, matching the team-best with LB Heyward.
In 2019, Duke had five players register six or more tackles for loss, led by DE Chris Rumph II who recorded a team-best 13.5 ... DE Victor Dimukeje and LB Heyward are the other two returning players on the list with 9.5 and 6.5 TFL, respectively ... Rumph II ranked eighth in the ACC with his 13.5 TFL ... a newcomer to the mix during Duke's season opener at Notre Dame was LB Rocky Shelton II, who earned 2.5 TFL, including his first career sack for a loss of 10 yards.
Senior defensive end Dimukeje and senior safety Marquis Waters enter the 2020 season with over 2,000 snaps to their credit ... Dimukeje currently has played 2,116 career snaps while Waters checks in at 2,096.
Redshirt freshman Porter Wilson handled the punting chores in Duke's opener ... in his collegiate debut, he punted six times for 274 yards and an average of 45.67 per kick ... his first punt went 60 yards while four of the boots were downed inside the Notre Dame 20 yard line.
Redshirt freshman Charlie Ham has replaced AJ Reed on both placement kicks and kickoffs ... in three career games, Ham has registered nine kickoffs for 540 yards (60.00) with one touchback.
