PlayStation Plus Free Games For July Available Today, With Two Bonuses - Forbes

The schedule got a little wonky due to the fact that July started on a Tuesday, but w should be getting the new free games for PlayStation Plus any moment now. They’re set to unlock for players on July 7, and it’s a big one, at least for Sony: this is the 10th anniversary of the free game program, though the company isn’t really giving away any major first-party titles to mark the program. Still, there are some solid titles in the mix, as well as two bonuses: one strange, and one small.

These will be made available on July 7, let’s look at what we’re getting:

NBA 2K: The premiere basketball sim in the industry: if you want to play a basketball game, this is the basketball game you want to play. It’s especially valuable right now, considering the absolute strangeness going on with real world NBA. It’s also got an open-world neighborhood mode, the story-based mycareer, and plenty of other stuff to pass the time.

Rise of the Tomb Raider: The second game in the Tomb Raider reboot, Rise of the Tomb Raider was a timed exclusive on Xbox One for a year. Now we can all play it, however, and I’d recommend it: it’s a straight-ahead, satisfying action game with just enough openish world exploration to augment its linear narrative that you feel yourself getting lost in the snowy reaches of Siberia. It’s not quite so fresh-feeling as the first in the series, but it comes with more tombs, some impressive environments and some solid action. The story is just sort of fine, but it doesn’t detract from the experience.

Erica: Here’s the first bonus, which, to be honest, I don’t know too much about. It seems cool, though, so let’s look at Sony’s description:

This feature-length cinematic experience merges high-fidelity Hollywood production values with engaging, tactile gameplay. Become Erica, a brave young lady plagued with nightmares of your father’s murder.
