The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers, but yet are tied 17-17 with the Houston Texans at halftime. Tampa Bay has four turnovers in the first half, including three interceptions by Jameis Winston and a fumble by Peyton Barber. Houston has scored 17 points off Tampa turnovers, starting with Bradley Roby returning an interception for a touchdown on Winston's first pass of the game.
Despite all of Tampa's injuries at wide receiver and Winston's poor play, the Buccaneers erased a 17-3 deficit in the second quarter thanks to a four-yard touchdown run by Ronald Jones with 1:57 left in the period and a Winston eight-yard touchdown pass to Justin Watson with 13 seconds remaining in the quarter. Despite throwing three interceptions, Winston has 198 yards passing in the first half. The Texans made it 17-3 on Carlos Hyde's one-yard touchdown run with 9:22 left in the second quarter.
Winston is still in pursuit of a dubious record that may not be reached by any other NFL quarterback. In his attempt to become the first quarterback to throw 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in a season, Winston's three interceptions in the first half put him at 27 on the year.
