It was a sloppy, mistake-filled first half in Pittsburgh. The Steelers and Seahawks combined for 10 penalties before halftime, costing a collective 108 yards. The first score of the game did not come until late in the first quarter, and even that James Conner run was set up by another mistake -- a Chris Carson fumble.
Ben Roethlisberger was just 8 of 15 for 75 yards at the half, as he struggled to find open receivers against a Seattle secondary that was torn up by the Bengals last week. He also briefly made a visit to the locker room with an elbow injury, though he did eventually return to the sideline. Seattle's offensive line was poor throughout the first half, undermining drives with penalties and getting repeatedly beaten for sacks. The one time the Seahawks did get on the board was thanks to a beautifully-placed ball from Russell Wilson to tight end Will Dissly, and he was 15 of 19 overall in the first half, but he often did not had enough time to deliver downfield.
Pittsburgh had to be happy with a halftime lead after struggling so badly in Week 1, but will need a better performance after halftime to hang on. The Seahawks, meanwhile, could be thrilled in the locker room to only be down three, given their frequent mistakes. Stay tuned below to find out who comes out on top.
