Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin has broken his silence on the ending of the show, and paid tribute to the people behind the HBO series.
Admitting on his blog that it has been a "wild ride", the author also gave an update on his final two uncompleted books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series – especially as the show overtook the series three seasons ago.
Assuring us it "will be done", the writer teased whether the ending to the books will be the same as the show – especially as the final season has been divisive, to say the least.

"How will it all end? I hear people asking," he wrote. "The same ending as the show? Different? Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes."
Typically straightforward there, eh George?
However, before you complain that the final season was rushed, the author noted that there are differences between the mediums, adding: "I am working in a very different medium than [showrunners] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], never forget. They had six hours for this final season.

"I expect these last two books of mine will fill 3000 manuscript pages between them before I'm done… and if more pages and chapters and scenes are needed, I'll add them."
Admitting that there were a lot more characters to incorporate into the book plot, the author also suggested it was "silly" to compare endings in advance.

"Book or show, which will be the 'real' ending?" he continued. "It's a silly question. How many children did Scarlett O’Hara have? How about this? I'll write it. You read it. Then everyone can make up their own mind, and argue about it on the internet."
